"Sandy Bart Heimann has spent several years researching, writing,
teaching, and painting about the feminine aspect of the Divine in
early history. Each painting in the show represents a recovering or
retelling of a spiritually rich experience of the sacred feminine
archetype. Heimann says that each story is told in manner in which
it revealed itself to her intuitively: she begins drawing lines on
the canvas until the lines become abstract forms, the forms evolve
into recognizable images such as people, animals, flowers, water,
volcanoes or whatever else they seem to want to be. Simultaneously,
she spends part of each day researching and writing about early
cultural myths in which women played dominate spiritual roles. As
these stories are researched they also take form on the canvas.
Heimann is a Master Printer who owned and
operated a fine art edition printing business for 18 years. She is
also a certified holistic nurse. She teaches workshops on
creativity at the University of Maine and is a poet and writer whose
book “Tides of Times: the Sacred Feminine, Patriarchy, and Creative
Expression” will be published later this year."
