Jesse Reno

"Signs and Wonders"

September 12 - October 20, 2007
All Images copyright of the artist

The paintings of West Coast artist Jesse Reno will be opening Wednesday, September 12th. Reno's visceral, cave-like paintings are influenced by aboriginal art, politics, mythology and experimental music. The show runs through October 20th. Artweek Magazine (July/August 2007) describes Reno's artwork as "...ritualistic and para-lingual, Reno's work bypasses the obstacle course of verbiage in favor of the ancient, tried-and-true method of direct, minimally mediated system of archetypes and icons which our culture both trampled and idealizes as an indicator of an untenably pure state of being."
